SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister
Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San, Union
Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, U Myo Thant and Dr Thet Thet Khine and Rakhine
State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, deputy ministers and officials attended a
coordination meeting on the comprehensive renovation of the religious edifices
damaged by Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine State yesterday.
The Deputy Prime Minister
highlighted priorities given to rehabilitation work in education, health and
religious edifices in the aftermath of Mocha, systematic maintenance of Myanmar
traditional artistic works and buildings donated by well-wishers under the
close supervision of trustee boards, relevant ministries, the state government
and Sangha Maha Nayaka Committees in the restoration of damaged stupas and
religious edifices.
Afterwards, the trustees of
pagodas in Sittway explained the damage to the religious edifices and the
conditions of the comprehensive renovation. Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung
and Chief Minister U Htein Lin made suggestions in discussions and Admiral Tin
Aung San coordinated the presentations.
Deputy Prime Minister Admiral Tin
Aung San and party proceeded to the Government Technical High School (Sittway)
in the afternoon and viewed round the learning of students and the completion
of the renovation of school buildings and classrooms. He also cordially greeted
and encouraged students and teachers.
Next, the Admiral inspected the Rakhine
State Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Directorate of Marine
Adminstration, and Myanma Post’s staff housing. He encouraged staff and gave
necessary instructions to officials.
Similarly, Union Minister for
Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and party went to the Sittway University
and Border Area Ethnic Youth Development Training School and inspected the
rehabilitation measures under implementation. He gave necessary instructions to
officials.
The Ministry of Electric Power
completed the repair work of the 66 kV Ponnagyun-Kyauktaw power cable, which
was damaged by Mocha, and 100 per cent electricity distribution to the city’s
neighbourhoods has resumed since 18 June, including Maha Muni Buddha image in
