Preparations underway for 86-day Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival
THE Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival will
be held for 86 days starting from 22 January 2026 in Minbu (Saku) township of
Minbu District, Magway Region, according to the Pagoda Festival Committee.
The authorities received advice from
Ovadacariya Sayadaws, and the festival will be opened on 22 January and held
for 86 days. The lodging houses, halls and stalls will be built for the pilgrims
across the nation, and arrangements will also be made for the pilgrims to stay
overnight, according to U Aye Lwin, district administrator and chairman of the
committee.
Currently, the repairing works are being
conducted in Mann Creek waterway, the location for the festival and Naga Lake
of Lower Settawya using heavy machinery. After the sandbank of Mann Creek is
repaired, the locations for accommodation halls and shops will be designated,
and construction will begin. Similarly, the tender, auction, and painting
processes within the pagoda compound will be conducted before the festival.
Moreover, a Bailey bridge will be constructed for the visitors to be able to
visit Lower Settawya, said U Aye Ko, chairman of the pagoda board of trustees.
The Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda is an A-level
pagoda in Myanmar, and the festival is held from the 5th
Waxing Day of Tabodwe until the 1st
Day of the Myanmar New Year. This year, the festival will be from
