S. Korea's exports rise 8.4 pct in November

South Korea's exports rose for the sixth consecutive month in November due to robust semiconductor and automotive shipments, government data showed Monday.

Exports gained 8.4 percent to 61.04 billion U.S. dollars in November compared to the same month of last year, continuing to increase since June, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.

The daily average exports jumped 13.3 percent to 2.71 billion dollars, marking the highest-ever November performance.

Imports added 1.2 percent to 51.30 billion dollars last month.

Semiconductor exports soared 38.6 percent over the year to hit a new record high of 17.26 billion dollars in November, thanks to the proliferation of artificial intelligence.

Automotive shipments spiked 13.7 percent to 6.41 billion dollars on the back of solid demand from the United States.

Exports to the United States, the European Union, Japan and Latin America fell, while shipments to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Middle East rose.
