Thegon Township Plans to Cultivate 82,610 Acres of Rain-fed Paddy in FY 2026

In line with the slogan, “Promote Production for National Prosperity,” Thegon Township in Bago Region has planned to cultivate 82,610 acres of rain-fed paddy during the 2026 fiscal year to strengthen local food security and promote the development of the rice sector.

Under the guidance of the Township Management and Administration Committee, local farmers will cultivate various paddy varieties, including 540 acres of YSR-1, 2 acres of YAR-14, 11,622 acres of Thai Hankauk, 11,006 acres of Hmawbi-2, 11,243 acres of Day-90, 28,174 acres of Yadana Toe, 8,463 acres of Inma Yebaw, and 11,560 acres of Vietnam varieties. Modern cultivation methods such as drum seeders and rice planters will also be utilized.

The Township Agriculture Department is supporting farmers by providing quality seeds, field demonstrations, training on cultivation techniques and pest management, promoting the use of natural fertilizers, and distributing agricultural inputs at affordable prices.— Ko Kyaw (Thegon)
