Dedalu Bridge inaugurated in Ayeyawady Region

The opening ceremony of Dedalu
Bridge on Pyapon-Kyonkadun-Dawnyein-Ama Road in Pyapon Township, Ayeyawady
Region, was held yesterday morning, as a gesture of hailing the Diamond Jubilee
Independence Day.
The ceremony was attended by
State Administration Council Member Mahn Nyein Maung, Chief Minister of
Ayeyawady Region U Tin Maung Win, Commander Brig-Gen Kyi Khaing of South-West
Command, Deputy Minister U Win Pe of the Ministry of Construction, officials
and town elders.
SAC Member Mahn Nyein Maung, in
his speech, said that the development of the transport sector, a key
requirement for the development of a region, is being prioritized by the
government to advance the standard of living for Myanmar nationals. He
requested the officials to cooperate and point out the need for the use of
public funds for the implementation of projects and whether it is beneficial
for the region or not.
Agriculture, marine product
industry, livestock, fishing industries, salt production, Thinpyu mat business
and Pathein parasol production thrives in the Ayeyawady Region, the main
rice-producing region of Myanmar. The region had to rely mainly on the sea
route before. Thus, the upgrading and construction works for roads and bridges
are being done to facilitate transport between regions, he added.
Afterwards, the deputy minister
for construction clarified the construction of the Dedalu bridge and a resident
expressed words of gratitude.
Then, the chief minister and
officials opened the bridge by cutting the ribbon, and SAC Member Mahn Nyein
Maung pressed the electric button to unveil the commemorative stone plaque of
the Dedalu Bridge.
Finally, the guests sprayed
scented water on the plaque and observed the bridge, it is learnt. — MNA/CT
