Handover ceremony of National Theatre (Yangon) held

The handover ceremony
of the National Theatre (Yangon) under the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry
of Religious Affairs and Culture was held yesterday morning.
The major renovation of the National Theatre
(Yangon) has been implemented with the assistance of the People’s Republic of
China.
Union Minister U Ko Ko of the Ministry of
Religious Affairs and Culture, Yangon Region Minister for Natural Resources U
Zaw Win, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai, officials from the Chinese
Embassy and Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and engineers from the
Beijing Construction Engineering Group Co Ltd attended the ceremony.
Union Minister U Ko Ko, Yangon Region Minister for
Natural Resources U Zaw Win, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai and
Commercial Attaché Mr Tan Shu Fu cut the ribbon to open the National Theatre
(Yangon).
Later, a video clip on the renovation of the
National Theatre was shown and the Chinese ambassador gave a congratulatory
speech.
Afterwards, the Chinese ambassador handed over the
documents relating to the completed renovation of the National Theatre (Yangon)
and exchanged presents.
Union Minister U Ko Ko thanked China on behalf of
Myanmar for handing over the National Theatre (Yangon) in time for observing
Diamond Jubilee Independence Day. Then, the Union minister and invitees viewed
the renovated National Theatre. The renovation of the National Theatre (Yangon)
cost 173 million Chinese Yuan. It is like a new modern theatre complete with
