20 EV cabs to be run at Yangon Airport, Nay Pyi Taw Thabyaygon Market

Of the first batch of 40 electric
vehicles that arrived in Myanmar, two companies will operate 20 vehicles as
taxis at Yangon Airport and Nay Pyi Taw Thabyaygon Market.
The vehicles that arrived at the
Ywathagyi dry port were inspected by National-Level Leading Committee
Vice-Chair 1 Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, chairpersons of five
working committees and officials whether they meet the vehicle standards and
correct licences on 24 January.
These 40 electric vehicles were
China-made BYD E2 models and Chindwin Shan Construction Co Ltd imported 30
vehicles while 10 vehicles by NPK Motors Co Ltd.
The electric vehicles and spare
parts were imported for the first time with the permission of the Steering
Committee on National Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Industries.
The Chindwin Shan Construction
Co., Ltd will operate taxi services using 10 vehicles at Yangon Airport and
another 10 by NPK Motors Co Ltd at Nay Pyi Taw Thabyaygon Market. The Steering
Committee on National Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Industries
designated the pilot-project period for promoting the use of electric vehicles
between 1 January and 31 December 2023.
Moreover, officials allow
electric vehicle imports, local production industries, the establishment of
level-3 charging stations and guarantee for after-sale services reviewing the
