Bagan-NyaungU
Ancient Cultural Zone was alive with the visit of domestic tourists and
pilgrims to famous pagodas and religious buildings on the full moon day of
Pyatho, according to the board of trustees of Buu Pagoda.
There are still more than 3,000 ancient pagodas
and religious buildings in NyaungU Township, Mandalay Region. Mural paintings
and ancient architecture are worth seeing and one cannot be tired of making
observations in Bagan, said U Toe Maung, a pilgrim from the Ngamyarlay Village,
Yesakyo.
Bagan is always crowded with pilgrims from all
parts of the country and tourists from abroad. It is breathtaking to see
ancient buildings altogether in one large place. Not far from the
Bagan-NyaungU, there is Mount Popa which is a must-visit for international
tourists. Bagan is the region that the entire Myanmar nation must value and
preserve, commented Ma Htet Ekari, a pilgrim from Mandalay Region.
Parking is difficult on the full moon day of
Pyatho at famous pagodas due to the large number of pilgrims and tourists that
visited the Buddha Pujaniya festival of the Ananda Temple and the famous
pagodas in Bagan.— Ko Kyemon/CT
