Plan underway to hold 15th Myanmar Traditional Htamanè competition at Shwedagon Pagoda
The 15th Myanmar Traditional Htamanè competition will be held at Shwedagon Pagoda on 3 February (14th Waxing of Tabodwe), according to the Board of Trustees.
Htamanè will be offered to Buddha images at prayer halls on the platform of the pagoda where the Ovada Patimokha day will be observed at 5 am on 4 February.
At 6 am, dried rations and Htamanè will be offered to 62 members of the Sangha, and at 7 am, the merit sharing ceremony will take place at Chanthagyi prayer hall.
The Myanmar traditional Htamanè competition will be held at Htanpinkone ground on the lower terrace with participation of 24 teams comprising various religious association and staff from the pagoda board of trustees office.
The price of each large bell-mouthed pan of Htamane is set at K55,000, and well-wishers may donate costs for the Htamane, according to the pagoda board of trustees.—TWA/KZW
