State Peace Talks Team holds talks with RCSS Chair-led peace delegation for second day

The second-day meeting between
the State Peace Talks Team and the peace delegation from the Restoration
Council of Shan State (RCSS) was held yesterday morning at the National
Solidarity and Peacemaking Centre in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was attended by State
Administration Council Member Union Minister at the Government Office Chairman
of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee-NSPNC Peace
Talks Team Leader Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and members — SAC Member Lt-Gen Moe Myint
Tun, NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naung and member Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein, RCSS
Chair General Yawd Serk, RCSS’s central executive committee members Sao Saung
Han, Sao Um Khe and representatives.
Both sides discussed the pending
issues from the first-day meeting and bilateral proposals on democracy and
federalism. The 33 basic policies on Shan State proposed by the RCSS and common
agreements on peace and development were mutually clarified and discussed
openly with the attendees. The two sides also discussed and negotiated drafts
to have agreements, and the second-day meeting was adjourned.
The third-day meeting will
continue on 26 January, and the two sides will sign the completed agreements as
both sides already had the same attitudes on preliminary agreements. — MNA/TS
