Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing yesterday
morning inspected the progress in the construction of the Maravijaya Buddha
Image in the Maravijaya Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw.
At the briefing hall, Lt-Gen Kan
Myint Than of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) reported on
accomplishments over the instructions given by the Senior General on 5 and 22
April, the carving of the image, progress of finished works, preparing to
install the Unnalun sacred hair, the expression for weight and measurement of
the image in QR Code, and Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Kyaw Swa Lin on the
construction of religious edifices, water fountain square, terrace, Gandakuti
chamber, Musalinda Pond, Nagayon Pagoda, Sasana Beikman, stone inscription
chamber Cetis, archways and progress of works.
The Senior General inspected
progress in carving the image, construction of the banner post, Gandakuti
chambers, Sudhamma public rest houses, water fountain square, archways, stone
inscription chamber Cetis, and Musalinda Pond and fulfilled the needs of
officials.
The Maravijaya Buddha Image is
being carved with the aim of showing the firm progress of Theravada Buddhism in
Myanmar to the world, ensuring Myanmar is the focal point of reverencing
Buddhism, shaping the State’s peace and stability and ensuring the world is
peaceful and prosperous. The marble rock for the image was conveyed from Sagyin
Hill in Madaya Township to Sameikkhon Port and then to Nay Pyi Taw along
Mandalay-Yangon Expressway.
The part of the image combined
with parts 1, 2 and 3 was lifted on the jewelled throne on 26 January 2023 and
it was accomplished on 31 January. Centre places of the throne were enshrined
with precious jewellery items donated by well-wishers led by the Senior General
on 27 January and 10 February. Part 4 of the image was conveyed onto the throne
on 11 February. Now, the carving of the image is 95 per cent complete.
Meanwhile, religious edifices are
being built in Buddha Park. In accord with the advice of venerable Buddhist
monks, Pitakat treatises in line with the copies in the 6th Buddha Synod are
being carved on marble plaques in Pali and Romanized languages with the use of
modern machinery. Moreover, arrangements are being made to print Pitakat
treatises in Pali and Romanized languages to be distributed to monasteries
across the world. So far, construction of the religious edifices and Buddha
Park is 82 per cent completed.
At night, the stone inscription
chamber Cetis, water fountain squares, terrace of the Buddha image, Suddhamma
public rest houses and the entrance road are illuminated for magnificence.
