DPM MoTC Union Minister inspects recovery efforts in Rakhine State

Admiral Tin Aung San, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung
and Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin attended a coordination meeting on
rehabilitation processes held at the state government office yesterday.
During the meeting, the
respective officials of committees reported on the arrivals of relief items and
construction materials, distribution of these supplies, allocation of types of
machinery in storm-affected regions, controlling of stable fuel prices,
healthcare services of rapid response teams and cash donations for
rehabilitation measures.
Then, the Deputy Prime Minister
stressed the need to prepare to upload the supplies from the vessels and quick
distribution of relief items to the respective regions.
The Deputy Prime Minister and
party went to Sittway Port and Phaungtawgyi Jetty of the Myanma Port Authority
and inspected the loading processes of relief items and materials onto the
boats/vessels from Sun Shine, Fortune and Khine Yazar ships and gave words of
encouragement members of Myanmar Police Force.
The Ministry of Cooperatives and
Rural Development distributes clean drinking water with mobile water
purification trucks to the locals of storm-affect regions in Rakhine State
under the supervision of the state disaster management committee and it
supplied 25,000 galloons of drinking water with five water purifier trucks to
Sittway, Rathedaung and Minbya townships.
Moreover, 50 Lite Straw water
purifiers are also allocated to Sittway, Ponnagyun, Pauktaw, Kyauktaw, Minbya,
MraukU and Rathedaung townships and a further 160 purifiers will be distributed
soon. Moreover, the ministry arranges to supply water with solar-powered mobile
water purifiers.
Due to cyclone Mocha, a
100-metre-high tower of MRTV retransmission station in Sittway township
collapsed and the team led by the chief engineer of MRTV Nay Pyi Taw (head
office) conducted repairing to broadcast MRTV channels, radio channels and FM
programmes in Rakhine State as usual.
Moreover, arrangements are being
made to replace the 300-metre-high tower before the erection of the new
100-metre-high tower. If it completes, the TV channels and radio programmes can
be broadcast as usual using DVB T2 300W and FM 300W transmitters.
Starting 25 May, the lampposts
will be illuminated between 7 pm and 10 pm at the Sittway bus
terminal-Meesetgyi roundabout, Meesetgyi roundabout-clock-tower, clock-tower-Biluma
bridge and Biluma bridge-Setyokya bridge. Moreover, the charging points will be
designated at the bus terminal, Meesetgyi roundabout, in front of the state
government office, cultural museum and Biluma bridge for the people to charge
phones, electric bulbs and batteries.— MNA/KTZH
