Preparations are being made to run electric trains and electric locomotives are being built: Senior General
May 30
EFFORTS must be made for
arranging all rail tracts to endure trains that can run at the speed of 100
kilometres per hour as the original goal, said Chairman of the State
Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in
inspecting the upgrade of Pinpet-Naungka-Taunggyi-Shwenyaung-Thazi-Myingyan
railway section project yesterday morning.
At the project briefing hall,
Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Aung Myaing reported on
implementation of the guidance of the Senior General on his inspection tour on
3 March, preparations for operating electric trains in the future, growing of
plants along both sides of railways, construction of the walls, retaining
walls, conduits, drains and bridges, construction of Htithein station yard,
placing rail tracts in Ayethaya and Pawmu station yards and progress in
upgrading Pinpet-Naungka-Taunggyi-Shwenyaung-Thazi-Myingyan railway section.
In his speech, the Senior General
underscored that the running of trains on the Thazi-Shwenyaung railway section
was slower than the set speed. Hence, the brake system must be improved for the
trains to be able to safely run along their routes at the set speed. The road
area must be set in advance for upgrading railways in the future. The State
lands along both sides of the railways need to be grown with forests, so it is
necessary to draw forest laws. Passenger trains must be linked with RBE
carriages. The Senior General disclosed that preparations are being made to run
the electric trains and electric locomotives are being built. The Senior
General gave guidance that efforts must be made for arranging all rail tracts
to endure trains can run at the speed of speed of 100 kilometres per hour as
the original goal, and it is necessary to review the plan to admit more than
the aforesaid speed of trains from the engineering point of view.
After inspecting the railway
circular site near Htithein railway station, the Senior General gave necessary
guidance and presented cash awards to project employees. The railway circular
near Htithein station is in a similar shape to the eminent Bawa Thanthaya
railway and viaduct in order to draw the attention of train passengers. —
