SAC Member DPM MoTC Union Minister inspects rehabilitation efforts in Sittway

SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister
Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San,
accompanied by Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and
Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, inspected the new arrival and
distribution of relief supplies in Sittway yesterday.
They viewed collective cleaning
activities carried out by members of Tatmadaw, MPF, Fire Brigade, City
Development Committee, social welfare associations and locals, the arrival of
relief and rehabilitation supplies transported by Tatmadaw and private vessels
at Sittway multi-purpose port and Phaungtawgyi Jetty, and the fastest
distribution of them to the storm-affected areas in Sittway.
Then, he paid homage to
Pyilonchantha Pagoda and looked round the consecration hall of the pagoda which
was demolished by Mocha and donated cash to members of the trustee board for
the comprehensive renovation of the pagoda.
In the afternoon, the Deputy
Prime Minister and party attended the coordination meeting on rehabilitation
held at the Rakhine State government office.
After the reports from each
committee, Deputy Prime Minister Admiral Tin Aung San called for accurate and
systematic calculation of the list of rice, CI sheets, and timbers which are
essential in the rehabilitation work for the region and the provision of relief
supplies to the people in need and effective management of rehabilitation
materials and equipment. He coordinated the necessary things before concluding
the meeting.
The Ministry of Construction has
mobilized four building task forces since 18 May in the reconstruction of the
damaged buildings in Sittway. The restoration of nine buildings out of 24 has
been completed so far at the Sittway General Hospital.
In addition, the ministry
reportedly continues the repair work for the damaged buildings at the Rakhine
State Public Health Office and the Nursing Training School in Sittway. — MNA/TS
