Confiscation of illegal goods: Timbers, wild animals, electronics, industrial materials and vehicles

AT the 16th-Milepost Kyaukchaw
checkpoint on 15 June, an on-duty team successfully seized an Isuzu bus worth
K20 million travelling from Nay Pyi Taw to Muse was found carrying four
Pangolins worth K320,000 without official documents from two paper cartons. The
action was taken in accordance with the Conservation of Biodiversity and
Protected Area Law.
An inspection team from Monywa
Police Force under management of Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task
Force intercepted two Jialing Super Cub motorbikes worth K600,000 in Monywa
township on 15 and 16 June. The operation was conducted in adherence to the
Export and Import Law.
In separate incidents, on 16
June, Customs on-duty teams impounded 320 Hanabishi electric frying pans worth
K5.76 million, which were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID), from a
Dongfeng 375 tractor head and CIMC Semi trailer (estimated value of K45
million) heading to Yangon from Myawady at Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in
Mon state and three kinds of goods worth K10.34 million including 128 RTH PE
tubes that were not declared in the ID at the Myanmar International Terminals
Thilawa (MITT). The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Additionally, a total of 0.590
tonne of illegal timbers worth K41,314 was seized near 25/0 Milepost on
Koepin-Thagara road in Yedashe township on 15 June, an unregistered Honda fit
(estimated value of K4 million) was captured on Yangon-Mandalay Highway in
Toungoo township on 16 June and an unregistered Nissan Murano (approximately
K7.5 million) was confiscated near Tollgate at 52/0 Milepost on Yangon-Mandalay
Highway in Bago township on 17 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law
and Export and Import Law.
As a result, a total of 10
arrests were made on three consecutive days from 15 to 17 June, with an
estimated value of K93,561,314, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication
