Donation ceremony held for monastic school maintenance, rehabilitation efforts in Rakhine State

The Ministry of Religious Affairs
and Culture organized a cash donation ceremony at Shwe Zedi Monastery in Kyaung
Tet Lan Ward of Sittway for the maintenance of school buildings of monastic
schools in Sittway Township yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by
Secretary of Rakhine State Monastic Schools Supervisory Body Presiding Nayaka
Sayadaw Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Ariyavamsa, Head Sayadaws of
monastic schools, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, U Myo Thant, and Dr
Thet Thet Khine, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, deputy ministers and
departmental officials.
First, officials and attendees
took me five precepts from Head Sayadaw of Min Kyaung Monastic School (BEPPS)
Bhaddanta Nyana and the MoRAC deputy minister reported on the donation.
Then, the Union ministers, the
Rakhine State chief minister and deputy ministers donated offerings and cash
for nine prerequisites to Lead Sayadaws of seven monastic schools.
At the ceremony, the Ministry of
Religious Affairs and Culture donated K120 million to Sittway’s seven monastic
schools that were destroyed by Cyclone Mocha. There are 1,555 students at these
seven monastic schools in the 2023-2024 academic year.
Then, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and
party attended the donation ceremony of cash and relief items for
rehabilitation of cyclone-hit areas held at the Rakhine State government
office.
At the ceremony, Union Minister
Dr Thet Thet Khine received K5 million worth of medicines donated by Lucky Asia
International Co Ltd.
Then, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung
together with Union Ministers Dr Thet Thet Khine and U Aung Thaw, and Rakhine
State Chief Minister U Htein Lin attended the coordination meeting on
rehabilitation programmes held at the Rakhine State government office.
During the meeting, the officials
of working committees and Deputy Ministers reported on the rehabilitation
processes, competition and ongoing work plans. Then, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung
pointed out the needs regarding the cleanup activities, adequate dust bins in
city areas and awareness programmes for systematic waste disposal.
Of 1,233 mobile stations of four
telecom operators in Rakhine State, 904 stations failed due to Cyclone Mocha.
Only 329 stations provided services and the maintenance of underground and
overhead fibre cables, microwave links and mobile communication stations was
conducted, and 855 mobile stations (totalling 1,184 stations and 96.03 per
cent) have been repaired on 5 June and communication services resumed in
