Inter-Ministry Universities’ Football Tournament for 2023 commences

Administration Council Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe attended the ceremony to kick off
the Inter-Ministry Universities’ Football Tournament for 2023 at Wunna Theikdi
Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
In his speech, Union Minister for
Education Dr Nyunt Pe said that the Inter-Ministry Universities’ Football
Tournament aims to select outstanding university student footballers to be able
to take part in the ASEAN University Games (AUG) and international
competitions. Outstanding footballers will be chosen as selected players to
participate in the 21st ASEAN University Games to be held in Indonesia in 2024.
The Union minister urged those athletes to pour out their strenuous efforts in
the competition to secure positions of selected players in the national team
and then to compete at the SEA level, Asian level and international level.
The SAC Secretary, council
members and Union ministers cordially greeted the athletes.
The Secretary watched the
competition between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental
Conservation and the Ministry of Science and Technology (A) teams at the
opening match in which the latter trounced the former 5-0.
Group A of the tournament is
formed with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation,
Ministry of Science and Technology (A), Ministry of Education (B) and Ministry
of Border Affairs. Group B comprises the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural
Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and
Irrigation, and the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Group C is
constituted of the Ministry of Education (A), Ministry of Religious Affairs and
Culture, and Ministry of Science and Technology (B).
Among the spectators were SAC
members Poe Rei Aung Thein, Mahn Nyein Maung, Dr Hmu Thang, Dr Aung Kyaw Min,
Dr Kyaw Tun and U Yan Kyaw. — MNA/TTA
