Union Commerce Minister attends BIMSTEC Business Conclave

Union Minister for Commerce U
Aung Naing Oo, currently in Kolkata in India to attend the BIMSTEC Business
Conclave at the invitation of the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the
Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry-FICCI, on 12 June
attended the trade and investment opportunities seminar sponsored by the
Engineering Export Promotion Council-EEPC of the Indian Ministry of Commerce
and Industry.
The seminar was attended by Union
Commerce Minister U Aung Naing Oo, Director-General U Thant Sin Lwin of the
Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, the UMFCCI chairman, the
chairperson of the Myanmar Pulses and Sesame Entrepreneurs Association and
traders, EEPC Chairman and Foreign Trade Policy and World Trade Affairs
Chairman Mr P K Shah, Vice-Chairman Mr Aakash Shah and Regional Affairs
Chairman Mr B D Agarwal, EEPC officials, Indian investors, businesspersons and
guests among others.
During the meeting, Union
Minister U Aung Naing Oo discussed the situation and prospects of boosting
bilateral trade, opportunities to enhance investments, and cooperation on the
use of Kyats and Rupees in bilateral trade. He also answered the queries raised
by the attendees.
Afterwards, the Union minister
visited the ETG Processing Plant in Kolkata, which is a factory that produces
value-added pulses imported from abroad. — MNA/TS
