Myanmar faces Viet Nam in Asian Cup Futsal opener 2024
Myanmar national futsal
team will play against the Vietnamese team in the first group match in the
Asian Cup futsal tournament 2024, in which Thailand will host in the final
stage.
The tournament will last from 17 to 28
April, with the participation of four groups of four teams. Group A comprises
Thailand, Viet Nam, China and Myanmar, whereas Group B consists of Uzbekistan,
Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Australia. Japan, Tajikistan, South Korea, and Kirgizstan
fall under Group C, while Group D is formed with Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Afghanistan.
Myanmar will play with Viet Nam on 17 April, host Thailand on 19 April and
China on 21 April.
Myanmar prepared to compete in the
tournament in early 2024. It also made preparations for the first time from 20
January to 10 February. Since 18 March, the national team has been making
second preparations for the tournament.
As part of the first preparation, the
Myanmar national futsal team made a trip to Indonesia and played three warm-up
matches with Indonesian clubs. In the second preparation, Myanmar held two
warm-up matches with the Afghanistan team and one each with the Kuwaiti and
Kyrgyzstan teams.
Myanmar lost to Afghanistan 1-6 in the
first match but won over the opponent with a 4-2 result. In Thailand, Myanmar
beat the Kuwaiti team 4-2 in the warm-up game but lost to the Kirgizstan team
