Pumpkin prices rise slightly as sales increase
The sale of pumpkins has climbed up now,
plus a slight increase in price.
Pumpkin is one of the marketable
vegetables in the Yangon and Mandalay regions, and it has been re-distributed
to other cities and towns. Restaurants also use pumpkin.
“Pumpkin is one of the marketable
vegetables. Yangon is the major destination, and pumpkins are re-distributed to
other towns by ship. Yangon’s Thiri Mingala Market directly places orders to
plantation owners, so it is profitable for wholesaling,” said a trader from
Shan State.
Most pumpkin consumers are middle-class,
according to vegetable shops in Yangon.
“Pumpkin has many consumers, and the
majority of them are middle-class families. It is a good dish for Myanmar
people, and it is suitable to eat in the rainy season,” said a vegetable seller
from Kyimyindine night market. — Thit Taw/ZS
