104th Anniversary of Myanmar Film Day marked in conjunction with 47th Respect-Paying ceremony
CHAIRMAN of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, along with his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and family, donated K10 million to the fund for the 104th Myanmar Film Day and 47th Respect-Paying Ceremony. This event took place at the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization (MMPO) office on Winkabar Road in Bahan Township, Yangon Region, yesterday afternoon.
Attendees included
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister
U Soe Thein, regional ministers, MMPO patrons, chairman and members, as well as
veteran artistes, actors, actresses, and other guests.

Maung Ohn, Chief Minister U Soe Thein, MMPO Chairperson U Kyi Soe Tun, and
Academy Khant Si Thu cut the ribbon to launch the Myanmar Film Day.
Following the opening,
they unveiled memorial statues of the fathers of the film industry and visited
charity stalls within the MMPO compound. Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn
presented K10 million donation on behalf of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, his
wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and family, to U Aung Lwin, a patron of MMPO.
Additionally, the Yangon Region Government handed over K14 million contribution
of the regional government.
Other notable donations
were made by the Ministry of Information, Forever Group Co., Ltd, Shwe Thanlwin
Media (Sky Net) Family, Mingala Cinema Family, and the Union Solidarity and
Development Party.
During the ceremony,
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn expressed his pleasure at the event and
praised the film industry’s century-long contributions to the nation. He
reiterated the Prime Minister’s appreciation for artistes and their significant
role in cultural development, urging ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the film
industry and secure its lasting legacy. Chief Minister U Soe Thein also
delivered an uplifting speech.

The first-ever Myanmar
film, “Metta and Sura,” premiered on 13 October 1920, marking that date as
