Baganoffers horse cart tours for visitors during Thadingyut Festival
According to the horse cart association in Bagan, the region is offering daily travel itineraries using pony carts to explore the cultural heritage sites of Bagan during the Thadingyut Festival.
Horse carts are
accessible near popular locations such as Sakura, Tharapa, Bagan Thante,
hotels, and notable temples and stupas in Bagan. Many tourists enjoy taking
photographs while riding in the horse carts, with the pagodas in the background
and during sunset.
Both local and foreign
travellers prefer horse carts in Bagan over other forms of transportation.
Currently, two-wheeled horse carts can be found in Mandalay, Meiktila,
Kyaukpadaung, Popa, Mingun, and Bagan, while four-wheeled carts are available
in Taunggyi and PyinOoLwin.
U Myat Thu, the leader
of the horse cart operators in Bagan, stated, “The horse cart drivers in Bagan
always provide excellent service to both local and foreign travellers. Foreign
tourists appreciate the warmth and friendliness of the drivers. Bagan has begun
receiving inbound tourists, including those from Spain and Canada. We are
seeing more tourists today and warmly welcome all visitors, as tourism is
Bagan’s main economic driver.”
There are over 100
horse carts in Bagan serving the tourism sector, with a charge of K 15,000 per
hour. Hotel bookings in Bagan for the Thadingyut holiday from 15 to 18 October
are fully booked, with travellers arriving in Bagan since 13 October. — Nyein
