Four Russian corvettes arrive in Yangon for joint exercise and friendly visit
IT is reported that four corvettes from the Russian
Pacific Fleet, namely Gromky, Rezky, Tsydenzhapov, and the logistic vessel
Pechenga, arrived at Thilawa Port in Yangon yesterday afternoon.
The vessels are in Myanmar to join the second
Myanmar-Russia joint maritime security exercise and a friendly visit. They were
welcomed by senior officers from Tatmadaw (Navy), Tatmadaw members of the
Myanmar Navy, as well as the Russian Military Attaché
to Myanmar and officials.
The corvettes were led by Captain 1st Rank
Antsiferov Alexey Vitalievich of the Russian Pacific Fleet. During their visit,
they will tour notable landmarks in Yangon, participate in friendly sports
competitions between the two countries and conduct harbor phase exercises. —
