DPM MoTC Union Minister inspects Sule Jetty, warehouses

MEMBER of the State Ad­ministration Council, Depu­ty Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo and officials yesterday arrived at Sule Jetty and Wah­dan Jetty, which Myanma Port Authority manages.

They inspected cargo, ware­houses, port facilities and stor­age conditions.

Deputy Prime Minister General Mya Tun Oo and the managing director of the My­anma Port Authority arrived at Sule Jetty with officials from the relevant ministries.

The Myanma Port Author­ity Chief Engineer presented the updated status of storage facilities and maintenance pro­cedures, as well as measures to be taken and carried out to obtain national and depart­mental income.

The Deputy Prime Minis­ter highlighted that as the dry season has come and Yangon Port mainly uses Sule Jetty for Myanmar’s agricultural ex­ports, officials and personnel concerned should maintain the high efficiency of port service activities to ensure safety and security in the exportation of goods.

The General elaborated that the port industry is the primary driving service provid­er for the country’s sustainable socioeconomic development; Government- or private-owned port facilities should carry out maintenance work and contin­uous inspections to ensure the resilience and strength of jet­ties and pay special attention to security and fire safety in the port area.

Afterwards, General Mya Tun Oo inspected Sule Jetties 1, 2, and 3, the rubber fender installation and the safety of the worksite.

The Deputy Prime Minis­ter and officials also inspect­ed the Lanmadaw port area, warehouses at the Myanma Railways Wahdan Terminal, railway conditions, jetties and pontoons where inland water vessels dock, and port ware­houses. — MNA/TS
