Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Buddha Pujaniya Festival: 2 Feb-17 Apr
THE
Buddha Pujaniya Festival is set to begin, and pilgrims can now visit the Mann
Shwesettaw Pagoda in Minbu (Sagu) Township, Magway Region. The preparations
for accommodation and shops for pilgrims from across the country are almost
complete, said U Aye Ko, chairman of the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Board of
Trustees.
The
Buddha Pujaniya Festival is traditionally held every year from the 5th waxing
of Tabodwe to Myanmar New Year’s Day. This year, it will take place for 75
days, from 2 February to 17 April.
“This
year, the Buddha Pujaniya Festival will be held from 2 February to 17 April
with large crowds expected. More than 600 guesthouses and 800 shops are being
built for pilgrims from all over the country. Almost all of them are now
complete, so visitors are welcome. Security measures have been arranged to
ensure a peaceful and safe experience,” said U Aye Ko.
The
rental rates for this year are K110,000 per day for a VIP room (with a bathroom
and toilet), K80,000-K60,000 for a standard room by the shore, and K40,000 for
a standard room on land. — ASH/MKKS
