5,000 displaced in Sittway receive food vouchers from MRCS & Danish Red Cross

 

THE Myanmar Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Danish Red Cross, has distributed food vouchers to displaced households current­ly in Sittway, Rakhine State. According to MRCS, from 31 January to 8 February, a total of 4,997 individuals from 1,464 displaced households received these vouchers.

 

Each displaced person was provided with a food voucher worth K68,500, which could be exchanged for 6 Pyis of rice, 50 ticals of chickpeas, 50 ticals of salt, and 50 ticals of cooking oil. In total, 4,997 vouchers were distributed, amounting to K342.294 million.

 

These vouchers do not provide food directly but in­stead allow recipients to col­lect food items from designated vendors upon presenting the voucher.

 

The distribution of these vouchers was carried out by MRCS with support from the Danish Red Cross. Local Red Cross volunteers, Red Cross members, and community members participated in the distribution process. — ASH/ KNN
