Myanmar, China, Thailand discuss transfer of detained foreigners
THE Myanmar government investigated
those who entered the country via land borders passing through some neighbouring
countries including Thailand and committed online gambling, telecom fraud and
destructive elements in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas in Kayin
State. During the operation, the government exposed 1,303 foreigners from 30
January to 17 February 2025, and the authorities managed to transfer them to
their respective countries under the law.

Aung Kyaw Kyaw who is also a member of the Central Committee for the
Supervision of Deportation and Transfer of Detained Foreigners for Illegal
Entry into Myanmar, Chinese Assistant Minister for Public Security Mr Liu Zhong
Yi and General Secretary General Trisak Indararusmi of Thai Ministry of
Defence and relevant officials arrived in Myawady yesterday.
The three parties observed the detention
of foreigners who illegally entered the Myawady- Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas,
their data and compiling of records.
The three representatives held a
coordination meeting in Myawady and discussed the preventive system for telecom
fraud between the three countries, the eradication of telecom fraud zones in
Myawady and the transfer of those involved in telecom fraud to their
respective countries.
The government is actively exposing
telecom fraud and cracking down on online gambling by cooperating with international
organizations including the neighbouring countries. — MNA/KTZH
