Myanmar Women’s Team wins debut at Four Nations Football Tourney
THE first day of the Four-Nation
Invitational Football Tournament hosted by Nepal took place on 17 February.
Myanmar won over the opponent Lebanon in its debut.
Myanmar team secured three points in
winning the first group match with a 3-1 victory over Lebanon by scoring
winning goals in the second half.
The lineup of the Myanmar team
comprising goalkeeper Myo Mya Mya Nyein together with May Thet Mon Myint, Yu Yu
Naing, Zune Yu Ya Oo, Phyu Phyu Win, Naw Htet Htet Wai, Khin Mo Mo Tun, Yupa
Khaing, Sanda Lin and Lin Myintmo led by Captain Win Theingi Tun showed
brilliant skills and talent.
As both teams could not utilize their
opportunities, the first half of the match ended in a draw. Although Captain
Win Theingi Tun scored an opening goal for Myanmar in 57 minutes, Iskandar of
Lebanon equalized it three minutes later. In the remaining minutes, Myanmar
women beefed up their tempo. So, Shwe Yi Tun scored one more goal for Myanmar
in 72 minutes and San Thaw Thaw netted another goal in 75 minutes. After the
match, Phyu Phyu Win of Myanmar won the woman of the match award.
The four-team round-robin format is
being initiated. Myanmar will play against Kirgizstan in the second match on
