Nepal Invitational Tournament: Myanmar tops group to reach final
THE final group-stage matches of the
Nepal Four Nations Women’s Football Invitational Tournament were held on 23
February, with Myanmar securing first place in the group and advancing to the
final.
In the last group match, Myanmar and
host Nepal drew 2-2, while Lebanon defeated Kyrgyzstan 2-0. Both Myanmar and
Nepal had already secured their spots in the final before this match, making the
result inconsequential. The draw was determined by early goals from both
sides, leading to a balanced outcome.
Myanmar fielded a different lineup but
still included key players. The match began with both teams attacking
aggressively. Myanmar took an early lead with goals from Myat Noe Khin in six
minutes and May Htet Lu in 16 minutes. However, Nepal equalized with goals from
Ranamagar in 11 minutes and Bhandari in 41 minutes. Neither team scored in the
second half, ending the match in a draw.
At the end of the group stage, Myanmar
and Nepal both finished with seven points. However, Myanmar secured the top
spot based on goal difference, while Nepal finished second. Lebanon earned
three points while Kyrgyzstan lost all three matches without earning a point.
