Over 22 Tons of Illegal Timber Seized Nationwide

The Forest Department,
under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation,
continues to crack down on illegal timber activities through various means,
including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), in cooperation
with local communities.
According to reports
from the Nay Pyi Taw Council area as well as state and regional forest
departments, authorities seized a total of 22.57 tons of illegal timber between
9 and 15 June. The confiscated timber includes 13.81 tons of illegal teak, 2.17
tons of hardwood, and 6.58 tons of other wood varieties.
In connection with
these seizures, ten vehicles and machinery were impounded, and 15 individuals
were taken into custody.— MNA
