Fresh Flooding Hits Tachilek Township
Tachilek, 24 July
In Tachileik Township, Eastern Shan State, continuous heavy rainfall since the night of 21 July, intensified by Cyclone Wipha, has caused widespread flooding in low-lying areas.
Floodwaters began rising around 6:30 PM on 23 July, submerging parts of Tachileik town, including Bogyoke Road, and have persisted into the morning.
The flooding was triggered by prolonged rainfall, the rising level of the Mae Sai River, and the flow of mountain runoff. Affected areas include Poon Htun, Tar Lot, Maka Ho Kham, Wang Kaung, and San Sai (A and B) wards, as well as major roads such as Bogyoke Road and the city circular road.— District IPRD
