New iron and steel quality testing lab coming soon
UNION Minister for Industry Dr Charlie
Than presided over a coordination meeting on the establishment of a laboratory
for quality testing of iron and steel at the MSME Product Showroom in Mayangon
Township of Yangon on 5 July.
The Union minister said discussions with
the Myanmar Steel Association were made to draft the Roadmap for steel policy
to test the sample steel bars being used locally as a response after the
earthquake. Moreover, the procedures are being carried out to set the
Mandatory Standard for locally produced and imported iron and steel. After
these processes, an international standard lab should be established as per
the criteria to maintain the quality.
He called for the participation of
experts from relevant fields to establish a lab.
The attendees coordinated the
discussion, and the Union minister provided proper instructions.
The chairs and experts of the Myanmar
Engineering Council and the Myanmar Engineering Society presented the MNBC
2025 and a soft copy to the Union minister. — MNA/KTZH
