Science and Tech Ministry, Indian Embassy sign cooperation deal

THE Union Minister for Science and
Technology and Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Union
of Myanmar signed a Programme of Cooperation (POC) in Science and Technology
yesterday at the Ministry Office in Nay Pyi Taw.
Since 2012, POC (2012-2015) and
POC (2018-2021) have already signed on behalf of the Republic of the Union of
Myanmar and the Republic of India for strengthening cooperation between the two
countries in the fields of science and technology. This signing is from 2025 to
2028.
By signing this POC the following
scientific and technological areas will be concertedly engaged; more
explicitly, biotechnology including food, medical and agriculture, nano
technology, technologies for smart university, green technologies, robotics, AI
and blockchain technology, virtual reality and augmented reality (3D imaging
technologies), advanced material science, renewable energy, electric vehicle
technology, critical minerals, geospatial technology and monitoring and
evaluation for science and technology strategic plan as per identified by
Myanmar-India Joint Working Group conduced on 17 May 2024.
Deputy Minister Dr Aung Ze Ya,
the permanent secretary, the director-general, the deputy permanent secretary
and the deputy director-general from the Ministry of Science and Technology,
and first secretaries and officials of the Embassy of the Republic of India to
the Republic of the Union of Myanmar also attended the signing event. — MNA
