UEC and MNHRC hold coordination meeting
THE Union Election Commission (UEC) and
the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) held a coordination
meeting on 8 July 2025 at the UEC Office in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was attended by UEC Chairman
U Ko Ko, Commission Member U Khin Maung Oo, and Secretary U Ye Yint Lwin, MNHRC
Chairman U Paw Lwin Sein, together with Members U Tin Aung and U Win Hlaing Oo
(aka) Cung Zamone.
Both Chairpersons emphasized the importance
of ensuring that elections are free, fair, transparent, inclusive, and in full
compliance with existing laws and established standards.
Discussions focused on a wide range of
topics, including key activities to be undertaken during the pre-election,
election day, and post-election phases; mechanisms for election observation
and monitoring; facilitation of voting for persons with disabilities, elderly
citizens, and pregnant women; enhancing public awareness and voter education
for election; demonstration of the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM).
