Over 213 Tons of Illegal Timber Seized Nationwide

The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has intensified efforts to combat illegal logging through various measures, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), in collaboration with the public.
According to data from the Forest Departments of Nay Pyi Taw and various states and regions, a total of 213.48 tons of illegal timber were seized between 8 and 14 September. The confiscated timber includes 19.56 tons of teak, 68.00 tons of hardwood, and 125.92 tons of other types of wood.
In connection with the seizures, authorities also confiscated three vehicles and machinery used in the illegal trade and arrested eight individuals.—MNA
