Over 41,000 acres of monsoon paddy cultivated in Myeik Tsp.

            It is estimated to cultivate 41,260 acres of monsoon paddy in Myeik Township, Myeik District, Taninthayi Region this year and its target was completed by the end of August, according to an official from the Township Department of Agriculture.

            With the aim of achieving higher yields, 1,300 baskets of high-quality paddy seeds were provided to 191 farmers from 11 village-tracts in the township and a total of 15,326 baskets were cleaned free of charge using modern grain cleaning machine. As of September 16, a total of 1,800 bags of urea fertilizer produced by the Myanma Petrochemical Enterprise were sold to the farmers at a reasonable price.

            This year, a total of 9,442 acres of paddy have been planted with good agricultural practices that support high-yielding guided by the Department of Agriculture and 28,909 acres of high-quality paddy seeds have been cultivated. In addition, agricultural awareness campaigns, courses and field demonstrations have been conducted in the township.

            In 2024, a total of 41,260 acres of monsoon paddy were cultivated in the township. Per-acre yield was 73.4 baskets; totaling 3,042,338 baskets of paddy were yielded last year, according to the Township Department.
