Union Defence Minister attends 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum





AT the invitation of the President of the China Association for Mil­itary Science and the President of the China Institute for Inter­national Strategic Studies, a del­egation led by Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye, who is also a member of the State Security and Peace Com­mission, attended the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum held in Beijing.


On the afternoon of 17 Sep­tember, the Union minister met Admiral Dong Jun, Minister of National Defence of the People’s Republic of China, at Bayi Hall in Beijing. They cordially and open­ly discussed matters including enhancement of cooperation in various defence sectors, stability and rule of law in border regions of both countries, further promo­tion of military technology coop­eration, training and exchange of trainees, and strengthening of fraternal and cordial relations between the two armed forces.


On the morning of 18 Sep­tember, the delegation led by the Union minister attended the forum’s opening ceremony and plenary meetings, where Admiral Dong Jun delivered the opening address.


Later, during the forum’s 2nd Plenary Session, the Union min­ister took part in discussions un­der the theme “Strategic Mutual Trust and Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region”.


More than 500 delegates, in­cluding defence ministers, dep­uty ministers, and chiefs of staff from over 100 countries, partici­pated in the forum. — MNA/KZL
