Union Industry Minister calls for strong industrial cooperation




UNION Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than attended the 2025 China-ASEAN Industry Ministerial Roundtable Meeting in Nanning, China, on 17 September.


The Union minister discussed that the establishment of an industrial coop­eration system can ensure the competi­tive development in the industry sector and promote the sustainable social and economic growth through constructive competition. The collaboration in capacity building for technological staff, training and vocational sectors is essential for the development of industry and human re­sources. If the ecosystem with drafted policies and procedures with the promo­tion of MSMEs and youth participation is established, the industrial growth in the China-ASEAN regions can be promoted further. The Union minister also called for constructive industrial cooperation to strengthen the China-ASEAN region.


The meeting approved to strength­en coordination in industrial policies and strategic cooperation, to build a regional innovation ecosystem, enhance collabo­ration on standards in areas of industrial transformation through digital, green, and artificial intelligence technologies, upgrade digital infrastructure, to develop digital platforms, to support the advance­ment of satellite navigation services, ex­plore cooperation in emerging industries including the digital economy and new energy sectors, promote the facilitation of trade and investment in new energy vehicles in China and ASEAN, explore cooperation in industrial development with AI and AI-powered applications, en­hance collaboration in the field of electric motorcycles, strengthen cooperation in the textile and garment sector, deepen cooperation in the pharmaceutical indus­try, reinforce joint training for technical personnel in the industrial sector, and promote the integration of SMEs into in­dustrial cooperation mechanisms in a fair and balanced manner.


The Union minister met with Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region officials and attended the China-ASEAN Emerging Exchange and Promotion Event with other industrial ministers of ASEAN.


The Union minister met the Chinese Industry and Information Technology Minister, and exchanged views on the en­hancement of the industrial sector and human resources development of the two countries, investment in Myanmar, cooper­ation in MSMEs, production of iron, steel, medicine, garment and bamboo products and further technical cooperation in the agriculture-based industrial sector, cotton, cooking oil and rice mill. — MNA/KTZH
