Discussion on information and resilient, strong social community held in Taunggyi



UNION Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, who is also Chairman of the Working Committee on Information and Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community, pre­sided over a discussion on the information and development of a resilient and strong social com­munity at City Hall of Taunggyi yesterday.

 

The event was attended by State ministers, departmental officials, representatives from Taunggyi University, Univer­sity of Medicine, University of Computer Studies, Technolog­ical University, Nursing Train­ing School, Midwifery Training School, ethnic literature and cul­tural groups, social associations in Taunggyi, and famous artistes from films and television series produced by MRTV-4.

 

In his opening speech, the Union Minister highlighted the need to be cautious and discern­ing about the dangers of fake and false news, and to prioritize actions based on watching and listening to accurate informa­tion reports. He stated that the government values and prior­itizes the youth for the future and also puts special emphasis on education. The multiparty de­mocracy general election will be held soon, and eligible citizens aged 18 and above should fulfil their civic duty by freely and vol­untarily casting their votes for individuals who can contribute to the development of the country and the region.

 

He donated 50 MRTV DTH receivers to the Shan State gov­ernment. The Union Minister and the Shan State chief justice drew lots for 10 MRTV DTH re­ceivers and presented the mate­rials to the winners.

 

The ethnic literature and cultural groups performed a dance to the song “A Song for Unity,” and the Union Minister and the State Minister for Secu­rity and Border Affairs presented cash prizes to the performers. – MNA/KTZH
