Discussion on information and resilient, strong social community held in Taunggyi
UNION Minister for Information U Maung
Maung Ohn, who is also Chairman of the Working Committee on Information and
Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community, presided over a
discussion on the information and development of a resilient and strong social
community at City Hall of Taunggyi yesterday.
The event was attended by State
ministers, departmental officials, representatives from Taunggyi University, University
of Medicine, University of Computer Studies, Technological University, Nursing
Training School, Midwifery Training School, ethnic literature and cultural
groups, social associations in Taunggyi, and famous artistes from films and
television series produced by MRTV-4.
In his opening speech, the Union
Minister highlighted the need to be cautious and discerning about the dangers
of fake and false news, and to prioritize actions based on watching and
listening to accurate information reports. He stated that the government
values and prioritizes the youth for the future and also puts special emphasis
on education. The multiparty democracy general election will be held soon, and
eligible citizens aged 18 and above should fulfil their civic duty by freely
and voluntarily casting their votes for individuals who can contribute to the
development of the country and the region.
He donated 50 MRTV DTH receivers to the
Shan State government. The Union Minister and the Shan State chief justice
drew lots for 10 MRTV DTH receivers and presented the materials to the
winners.
The ethnic literature and cultural
groups performed a dance to the song “A Song for Unity,” and the Union Minister
and the State Minister for Security and Border Affairs presented cash prizes
