MoIP UM visits China for border cooperation talks
AT the invitation of the Government of
the People’s Republic of China, Union Minister for Immigration and Population,
U Myint Kyaing, accompanied by Director-General of the Department of
Immigration U Ye Tun Oo and members of the delegation, paid a working study
visit to the People’s Republic of China from 14-18 November intending to
further enhance immigration cooperation between Myanmar and China, reduce
illegal entry and exit, and jointly combating online fraud.
The Union minister and his team visited
Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China, on 14-15 November and Beijing on 16- 17
November. On the evening of 17 November, the Union minister and his team met Mr
Wang Zhizhong, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of the
People’s Republic of China, and his team at the meeting room of the National
Immigration Administration Headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security.
During the meeting, they exchanged views
on upgrading immigration inspection systems at Myanmar-China border posts and
further expanding immigration activities; coordinating and cooperating to
ensure legal entry and exit across the borders of the two countries and
preventing illegal entry and exit; exchanging information on immigration between
the two countries; jointly combating human trafficking and online gambling;
conducting meetings and consultations to ensure peace and stability in the
border areas of the two countries and facilitate mutual entry and exit; and
conducting practical coordination and cooperation on immigration activities
with mutual trust and understanding to further strengthen friendship between
the two countries.
Then, the signing of the Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in immigration between Myanmar and China on
the repatriation of Myanmar citizens arrested for various reasons in China
continued. In the presence of Union Minister U Myint Kyaing of Myanmar and Vice
Minister Mr Wang Zhizhong of China, Director-General of the Immigration
Department U Ye Tun Oo and Deputy Director General of the National Immigration
Administration (NIA) Mr Liu Haitao signed the MoU and exchanged it.
Afterwards, the Union minister and the
Vice-Minister of the People’s Republic of China exchanged souvenirs, and the
Vice-Minister hosted a dinner for the Union minister and his delegation at the
Beijing Hotel.
Yesterday morning, the Union minister
and his team arrived in Guangzhou from Beijing and returned to Yangon by air in
