UEC Chair receives Chinese ambassador
UNION Election Commission (UEC) Chairman
U Than Soe received Ms Ma Jia, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to
Myanmar, and her team at the Union Election Commission Office Guest Hall in
Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of
the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar asked questions about the UEC’s
efforts to successfully hold the election, advance voting, election observation,
and security arrangements for the election.
Then, the UEC Chairman explained their
preparations to successfully hold a free and fair election; the measures taken
to enable domestic and foreign voters to cast advance ballots in accordance
with the law; the steps taken to allow international election observation
groups, including those from the People’s Republic of China, as well as diplomats,
to observe the election; and the arrangements made to ensure that political
parties, parliamentary candidates, and voters can cast their ballots safely and
peacefully at polling stations. Following this, they held a friendly
discussion on election-related issues. The meeting was attended by members of
