9,000 foreign tourists visit Afghanistan in 9 months

More than 6 million tourists, including some 9,000 foreigners, with the remainder being domestic tourists, have visited historical sites in Afghanistan in the past nine months of 1404 in the Persian calendar (from March 20, 2025 to Dec. 20, 2025), spokesman for the Ministry of Information and Culture Khabib Ghafran said.

The increase in the number of tourists compared to past years indicates an improvement in the services provided to tourists and the tourism industry, the official said, adding that the government would build more facilities, such as hotels, to better serve the visitors as part of efforts to promote the tourism industry in the post-war nation.

Tourists from the Central Asian states, Russia, Germany, France, the United States, China, and Arab countries are among those who have visited Afghanistan over the period, the official went on to say.

However, the official did not disclose the income generated through the country's tourism industry.
