Efforts to promote agri trade between Myanmar and India

DEPUTY Minister Dr Tin Htut of
the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation received Secretary Smt
Nidhi Khare of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution,
India, and her team at the Novotel Hotel on Pyay Road, Yangon, on the afternoon
of 22 January.
They discussed ways to promote
agricultural trade between Myanmar and India, stabilize import policies,
strengthen bilateral cooperation, and develop a comprehensive rice- and
pulses-based production chain. They also explored expanding pest control
technology services to ensure product quality and reduce pesticide residues in
mung beans and tur, which are imported in large quantities from India. Other
topics included prospects for additional pulses, cooperation in activities
necessary for the sustainable export of pulses from Myanmar, and mutual
collaboration not only in pulses but also in wheat, and covering areas from
