Govt continues crackdown on scam hubs in Shwe Kokko and KK Park
THE Government of Myanmar has deployed a joint team comprising security forces, administrative bodies and local authorities to raid illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas, where telecom fraud and online gambling activities have been operating, and to systematically dismantle confiscated materials and demolish illegal structures used for such activities.
Yesterday, the joint team demolished two more illegal buildings – both five-storey structures used for telecom fraud and online gambling – in the KK Park area. As a result, a total of 633 out of 635 illegal buildings in Section 2 of the KK Park area have now been demolished.
In Section 3 of the KK Park area, demolition works to eliminate illegal buildings have been carried out using machinery and fire barrels since 14 December. As of yesterday, a further five two-storey buildings had been destroyed, bringing the total number of demolished buildings in that section to 116.
The government considers the eradication of telecom fraud and online gambling crimes a national responsibility and will continue its efforts, in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries, to ensure that such activities can no longer operate within Myanmar. — MNA/ MKKS
