Exhibits will include fossil remains of ancient elephants; elephant head models fitted with tusks to illustrate different elephant species; equipment used by mahouts; demonstrations of traditional elephant capture methods; Myanmar artworks made from legally permitted materials resembling ivory; radio collars used for tracking wild elephants; camera traps installed in forest areas; and various sculpted elephant figures.
The Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival will be held for 86 days, from 22 January to 17 April, corresponding to the fifth waxing of Tabodwe to Myanmar New Year’s Day. During the festival period, the Shwesettaw Mann Chaung Recreation Elephant Camp will be open daily from 7 am to 6 pm. Visitors will also be able to stay overnight at accommodation facilities within the elephant camp. — ASH/KZL
