UEC Member holds talks with Asian Peace and Reconciliation Council Chair





UNION Election Commission Member U Aung Saw Win re­ceived Chair of the Asian Peace and Reconciliation Council (APRC) Professor Dr Surakiart Sathirathai and his delegation at the diplomatic hall of the Yangon Region government yesterday afternoon.


The APRC Chair extended greetings and expressed his pleasure and congratulations on the successful, free, and fair conduct of Phases I and II of the 2025 general election in Myanmar, and he extends his support for Myanmar’s electoral process. During Phase III of the election, scheduled for 25 Janu­ary, arrangements will also be made for an election observa­tion team to observe the election process, and the team will pro­vide reports on their findings, assessments, and recommen­dations. He then asked about the progress of holding the 2025 general election.


The UEC member ex­plained conducting of Phase I of the general election 2025 on 28 December 2025 and Phase II on 11 January 2026, holding the transparent, free and fair election under the law, allow­ing international and internal election observation teams to monitor the election process, arrangements for internal and international media to cover the election news transparently, vot­ing of people in relevant phases of the election, use of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine, progress of advance voting at home and abroad, experiences in changing election system, and preparations to hold Phase III of the election successfully. The UEC member invited them to observe Phase III of the election on 25 January.


They also exchanged views on the successful holding of Phase III of the general election and cooperation with the APRC.
