Shan United, Yangon United keep MNL title race alive
IN the 2025-2026 Myanmar National League season, matchday 19 on 25 February saw Shan United and Yangon United each secure wins, keeping the championship race tight.
At Thuwunna Youth Training Centre, Shan United defeated ISPE 6-1. Sa Aung Pyae opened the scoring in 17 minutes, followed by Thet Hein Soe in 26 and Mark Sakai in 36 minutes, giving Shan United a 3-0 lead by halftime. In the second half, Sa Aung Pyae scored again in 68 minutes, with Lin Htet Soe adding goals in 54 and 85 minutes.
At Thiha Dipa Stadium, Yangon United beat Maha United 2-0. Rinta Rohama scored in 23 minutes, and Myo Set Paing sealed the win in 80 minutes.
Shan United, with one match fewer than Yangon United, can reclaim the top spot if they beat Rakhine United on 2 March. Matchday 19 continues today, 26 February, with Dagon Port facing Rakhine United at Thihadi Stadium, and Thitsar Arman taking on Ayeyawady United at Thuwunna Youth Training Centre. — Ko Nyi Lay/ KZL
