More foreign nationals engaging in telecom fraud and gambling arrested in Tangyan, Shan State (North)

THE government has treated the fight against telecom fraud and online gambling as a national duty and is actively carrying out suppression efforts in coordination not only with domestic authorities but also with the governments of neighbouring countries, to prevent such crimes from gaining a foothold in Myanmar.

The information has been released on 4 April that security forces arrested those who committed telecom fraud and gambling along with residential buildings and related accessories in Kaungsan village, some 25,000 metres northeast of Tangyan, Shan State (North).

Yesterday, on 5 April, security forces continued their efforts to prevent online gambling fraudsters from establishing a base. At around 12:15 pm, two more Chinese men involved in telecom fraud and online gambling were arrested near Kaungsan village, approximately 1,200 metres north of the site where others were arrested the previous day.

All individuals apprehended for involvement in online gambling fraud will be thoroughly identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law. — MNA/ TH
