Atthakatha texts of Tri Pitakat treatises donated to venerable monks




A ceremony to donate com­puter-typeset editions of the Atthakatha tests of Tri Pitakat treatises was held at the Maha Pasana Cave in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region, yes­terday morning.


Venerable monks led by Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Can­dima Bhivamsa, Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, attended the event together with Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, the Yangon Region Chief Minister and donors.


Attendees observed the Five Precepts while members of the Sangha recited Paritta. The Union minister then ex­plained the purpose of donating the computerized editions of the Atthakatha treatises.


Officials and donors formal­ly presented the books to ven­erable monks from Buddhism learning centres across Yan­gon Region, while cash for nine prerequisites were also handed over.


A total of 51 volumes of Atthakatha treatises were compiled digitally starting in January 2024 and printed in September 2025. Work is ongo­ing on 26 volumes of Atthakatha treatises revised at the Sixth Buddhist Synod, two of which have already been completed. The published texts are also being prepared in e-book for­mat to support Buddhist studies and teaching activities. — MNA/ KZL
