Efforts underway to launch nationwide handicraft showroom by year-end
EFFORTS are being made to implement a handicraft showroom by the end of this year in Nay Pyi Taw, U Kyaw Win, a bamboo artisan, shared this information with The Global New Light of Myanmar.
The showroom aims to showcase the creative works of artisans from Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, and various other states and regions, effectively creating a collaborative market.
He explained: “We are trying to implement a system where producers can gather to display and sell collectively. To achieve this, we plan to set up a showroom in Nay Pyi Taw that features items from various locations. Currently, entrepreneurs are working independently with no direct contact between buyers and producers. By opening this showroom, we can bring everyone together. It will be more convenient for both parties.”
The project is slated for implementation by the end of this year, and several entrepreneurs have already been notified. Artisans from across the nation will be invited to participate. If they are unable to attend, they may send the handicraft items for display.
Once established, the showroom is expected to foster stronger connections between sellers and buyers and create opportunities to enter the international market. Furthermore, he stated that once the plan is fully realized, there are ambitions to collaborate with government departments to open vocational training courses for bamboo and rattan crafts. — MT/ZN
